   If  that was my room and I was keeping the brown curtains and carpet then i would go for a magnolia colour to lighten it up add  some turquiose or  duck egg blue cushions and paint that black furniture  a light colour

   If that's the room it's hideous. Too much brown and those curtains must have been salvaged from a barn fire. First of all ask, "What's the purpose of the room?" If it's a main room then a neutral color on the walls and a subdued offsetting color carpet on the floor. Dark blue curtains is a nice contrast on both windows. This scheme gives the room warmth and depth. This doesn't have to be done all at once (considering cost). But it would be a nice project over time.

   Dear Cookie
   In your living room, a lot of neutral colors. The walls look very flat,  the ceramic tile looks to have a rust coloring.Llightening the walls is a good idea. As I look, the furniture is modern black somewhat dominating try a pale shaded  brown pillow. Paint the rust coloring from the floor around the window seals. Paint the ceiling molding a shade up or down in the same color palate of beige browns. Use your black furnitue in a seprate grouping with a light pillow, or closer to one of the windows. add black pillows to the sofa. Use the same design curtain s that you have on your window. Use a few more lamps, even add a pinch or rustic red colored pillow

   probably a neon green color and then leave one side of your room that horrid orange color that would look sweet

   Try sherwin williams Kilm beige or Macadamia. I have flipped over 100 homes and as these are their #1 and #6 most sold colors I believe it will be 1000% better than the HORRIBLE must have been a mistake color on the walls now!!!! any question text me as i have owned a custom paint company for 17 yrs. 574-551-2940
